Connectors Summit, We and Me

Producing a Global Virtual Summit for Facilitators to Connect and Collaborate

white paper

Chad Littlefield is one of the most respected voices in the world of human connection — co-founder of We and Me, creator of the We! Connect Cards, and host of the annual Connectors Summit. Every December, the Summit brings together facilitators, educators, and community builders from around the world.

Running a virtual event for that crowd is the ultimate test. This is an audience whose entire craft is engagement, and who come to the convening specifically looking for tools and techniques for engaging their audiences in new ways.

For multiple years running, Chad has trusted us to co-produce the gathering alongside him. We helped his team transition away from using Zoom and onto a platform that allows for meaningful engagement and connection between participants. As a result, we turned a multi-day online summit into an experience that feels less like a webinar and more like a room you don’t want to leave.

what we did

  • Co-produce and co-facilitate the 3-day Connectors Summit for the past few years

  • Design and run the full experience on Remo, our platform of choice for free-flowing connection

  • Support end-to-end production including Remo space design, pre-summit tech check, and run-of-show

  • Co-facilitate interactive sessions to demonstrate the power of the platform to attendees

  • Support speakers with a seamless behind-the-scenes flow

"Spud is a master of turning ideas to action. Quickly. With an expertise for innovation and an ability to make it happen. He is a Remo master and that platform is 1000x more impactful. He quickly became very loved by our community.”

how we did it

Built for connection, not broadcast

We run the Summit on Remo, our virtual engagement platform, specifically because people can move between virtual tables and actually talk. This becomes the online equivalent of turning to the person next to you. For a summit about connection, the platform has to embody the message.

Kill the tech friction before and during the gathering

Weeks before the summit, we run an “unofficial start” tech check so everyone can troubleshoot any potential tech issues in a low-stakes warm-up. The goal is to “double the joy and halve the frustration” before the real thing begins.

Once the event kicks off, behind the scenes we produce the whole flow so speakers like Priya Parker and Peter Block can simply show up and shine.

Hands-on facilitation, not just production

Beyond running the tech, we co-facilitate programming during the summit. Chad’s team relies on us to demonstrate creative approaches and methods for engaging audiences in a virtual setting.

Techniques have included Collective Story Harvests and World Cafes. In one of the years, we hosted an interactive Pro-Action Café where the audience does the work of identifying and co-creating projects together. Consistently attendees report some of these sessions as their favorite.

As the Summit grows, we’re bringing in one of our other tools – WiseRooms – to capture the wisdom in the room in real time and turn 3 days of conversation into harvested themes and new connections that outlast the event.
