Overview:
The Centre for Social Innovation has three locations in Toronto and a location in New York City. We provide our members with the tools they need to accelerate their success and amplify their impact. Together, we’re building a movement of nonprofits, for-profits, entrepreneurs, artists, and activists working across sectors to build a better world. They have a series of books you can download as pdfs, or purchase hardcopies, which provide an overview of how to run successful coworking and innovation hubs.
- Emergence: Starting back when the Centre was just a glimmer in the eyes of a few social entrepreneurs, Emergence follows our growth from concept to operation to scale.
- Rigour: This book is a manual for those planning or operating a shared space. It reveals the accumulated knowledge of six years of experience and offers a ton of tips, lessons and tools for developing a strong organization and vibrant community.
- Proof: This report shares our most recent research on the impact of the Centre for Social Innovation in order to demonstrate just what shared spaces for social innovation can accomplish.
Spud’s Thoughts:
These were some of the most important books when I launched an innovation hub and coworking space for my community in State College. The books are super easy to read through and have really great details for how to animate and host these spaces. Definitely download the pdfs – but I would also recommend keeping these on your bookshelf as well bc they are that valuable :)
